An Interview with Celia Reynolds of Sassy Chick's Boutique
Celia Reynolds was born and raised in Perry
,Ga. The daughter of Ceaser & Hattie Gorman. Wife of Theron
Reynolds, mother of six children (blended family). She has several sisters
and brothers. As a child she would see her mother put outfits together, and not spend much at
all. She was a budge-nista. Coming from
a middle class income family of 8, they had what they needed, but they had to work
hard to get their wants. Her parents taught her and her siblings to love God, work hard, and look
good while doing it.
What was your motivation to start your own business?
After seeing my mother style herself, and others later in life ,then I knew what I wanted to do. I got joy putting different looks and patterns together. I have a fun, unique style ,and I am not afraid of change. I absolutely love color so I will try things that most won't.

What was your motivation to start your own business?

Walk me through some of the first few steps you took to get to where you are today.
I started Sassy Chick's Boutique in January 2015. I had
researched several online vendors ,and some local ,and non local vendors to
stock my boutique. I knew that I wanted a custom tee line to express myself,
and thought it would add a little edge to the boutique. About two years before
I started it God gave me all these slogans for tee's. I would wake up in the
middle of night and write it down. I held on to most of these Sassy slogans
until God told me to release them. I had to register /safe gaurd my ideas. God
spoke to me about timing and said everything has a designated date. I released
the Sassy Tee's category in April of 2015. Since then I have helped several
beauty salons come up with their own personal style ,slogans. I released the infamous "Slayville" tee line which my hairstylist /friend used them
for his grand opening to express his super dope styles.
After having a baby with my husband in August 2015. I was
going through a lot of anxiety about the weight that I had gained. I found it
hard to be sexy for my self and husband because I hated the Spanx. God gave me the
concept for Spanx Free clothing when I started wearing ponchos ,tunic tops,
flowy maxi dresses ,and my fave African Skirts.
The "Spanx Free Collection" launched in the
beginning of 2016. I have to say it is currently one of our best sellers. A lot
of women love to look good but don't like to feel uncomfortable. With our
collection you can let it all hang out and still look fabulous!
There are several categories to choose from our website.
Including our amazing Curvy Girl Couture Collection /Sassy Plus Collection
which caters to all plus sized beauties. Our clothing designers are mostly from
U.S.A. and are true to size unless noted.
We also have a personal styling division that I started in
2016 that has allowed me to fit, style some of the hottest
models, singers, actors and anyone else that is looking to be glamorized. Within
this division we have helped a lot of promising talent that needed a helping hand.
My new collection will be released around Valentine's Day,and definitely Sassy! God has been speaking to me about branding. We have so
much more in store. I am excited about our future and growth since I started. I
am in the season of don't stop unless God stands in front of me mode. Our
legacy is still being written.
What has been your biggest challenge so far?
When I first started Sassy Chick's Boutique I thought my
friends ,family, etc. would be my first customers, but needless to say most of
them did not and some still do not shop with me. This was very alarming for me
at first and I often became bitter about it.
How did you overcome this challenge?
God freed me from myself. He
said that it is not you, and I am all the support you need. I am proud to announce
that my sales have not been touched by the lack of support.
A young person walks up asking your advice and only has a few minutes, what would be your best advice?
If i can give
others advice about what to expect it would be to expect nothing ,but prepare
for everything. Your family ,friends, partners do not make you. God is your successor and he will provide you with kingly connections. I would also say, finding good vendors to buy from...for my
online boutique. I lost a lot of money ,had to change banking centers, cancel
credit cards etc. ,and lord pray over all the connections I made. I am pretty
satisfied with most of my vendors and constantly add to them monthly, but I
have to try out their material ,quality etc before i put my brand behind it. My
closest friends and I are Sassy Chick's Boutique first testers. If i like the
quality then most time it will sell.
Being a boutique owner has gifted me into opening a
mentoring, and for profit ministry called "I Can Again" and hair
boutique called "Sassy Chick's Hair Boutique" I am also a radio talk
show host at WCEG Talk Radio called Take A Stand and a weight loss consultant
for a company that sells all natural products.
