Bloggers and Brands. How To Pitch An Email.

What better way to open this blog than to talk about pitching to brands? It definitely isn't something that is as easy as some bloggers make it look. It is actually very daunting. Remember, you are selling yourself and your blog, go into this as if you were interviewing for a job interview.

In order to be straightforward I will say this, if you haven't established some kind of following, you are not ready to pitch to a brand. Now, I'm not saying you need 15,000 page views a month or that many followers on Instagram, but you do have to be influential. The relationship between you and the brand HAS to be beneficial to the both of you, in other words, if you promote a brand and you don't have a decent following the collab becomes one sided. It becomes more of a benefit to you.

So, let's get to the meat and potatoes of this post. The reason you are still reading. Sending out your pitch. In a inbox full of pitches, yours has to be the one that stands out, the best way to do that is pitching to a brand you genuinely love. Why is this important? Well, because there is a great chance that you've already blogged or posted something from the brand, which means you can easily link the post in your email. This will demonstrate to the brand that you are very familiar with their brand.

Here's what to remember when pitching:

*Keep it simple. Brands reps read emails everyday, all day. Keep yours short and sweet and get to the point.

*Introduce yourself & your blog. Include a direct link to your blog and share a BRIEF description of your blog. You may include your social media pages with links.

*Include your love of the brand and why you want to work with them. This is so much easier if you are already familiar with the brand.

*What kind of compensation do you want?

*Sell yourself. This is where you can include blog or IG stats, this is also where you can include your promotional plan. In other words, Why is it in the brands best interest to work with you?

*Proof read before clicking "send". This is probably the most important. Make sure your email is grammatically correct, the brands name and person of contact's name is spelled correctly. And make sure all your links work.

If everything looks good, click "send". And then you wait...stay positive. Give them about 7-10 days, follow up if you haven't heard anything back. Are you ready? Good luck!
